Center for Teaching and Learning

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) partners with instructors, academic units, and external collaborators on pedagogy, technology, and assessment to advance excellence in teaching and learning in face-to-face, online, and hybrid settings. CTL offers colloquia, workshops, training, consulting, and online resources to promote best practices in instructional design, evidence-based teaching practices, educational measurement and evaluation, instructional and course assessment, and emerging technologies.

The center is also a faculty resource for course management tools, including Canvas and Blackboard, and supports faculty development with educational technologies and design, new graduate student and faculty orientation, multimedia tools, and media production techniques. Research and benchmarking are crucial to CTL’s objectives, and are supported by the studies related to innovations in course instruction and design.

The Student Testing Services group within CTL coordinates University testing programs, including examinations for course credit and placement, and serves as a test center for many examinations offered worldwide:

  • Graduate Record Examinations General Test and Subject Tests
  • Law School Admission Test
  • Miller Analogies Test
  • Praxis Series (Professional Assessments for Beginning Teachers)
