The faculty has approval to offer the following courses in the academic years 2015–2016 and 2016–2017; however, not all courses are taught each semester or summer session. Students should consult the Course Schedule to determine which courses and topics will be offered during a particular semester or summer session. Conducting: CON

CON 280C, 380C, 480C. Master's Conducting.

Offered for band, choral, or orchestral conducting. For 280C, two lecture hours and two laboratory hours a week for one semester; for 380C, three lecture hours and two laboratory hours a week for one semester; for 480C, four lecture hours and two laboratory hours a week for one semester. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: Graduate standing; and intermediate-level conducting experience or consent of instructor.

CON 290C, 490C. Doctoral Conducting.

Restricted to students pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in conducting. Offered for band, choral, or orchestral conducting. MUS 280M. Group Piano Pedagogy.

The development of skills in teaching group piano; examination and evaluation of methods and materials used in keyboard instruction; learning styles; research. MUS 280N. Technology in Voice Study.

The integration of computer technology and audiovisual equipment into applied voice instruction. One lecture hour and one and one-half laboratory hours a week for one semester. May be repeated for credit, but only two semester hours may be counted toward the Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Prerequisite: Graduate standing in music.

Intensive study of the principles and methods of teaching various instruments at the college level. Two lecture hours a week for two semesters. Open to any University student who can qualify by audition. Advanced training on a non-Western musical instrument such as Javanese gender barung, Indian sitar, Arabic qanun, or Korean kayakeum, or advanced training in a non-Western vocal style, and other approved musical practices. Two lecture hours a week for one semester. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: Graduate standing; two semesters of enrollment in a non-Western music ensemble, such as Javanese Gamelan, Middle Eastern or North Indian Music ensemble, or other approved music ensembles, and consent of instructor.
