The University Unions

The University Unions spaces serve as community centers for The University of Texas at Austin and offer activities, programs, services, and facilities that complement the academic mission and focus on student development. The University Unions offers items for purchase in stores and a wide variety of food and beverage services including restaurants and mobile food trucks located throughout campus.

Programs are offered for intellectual, cultural, social, and recreational development. The University Unions coordinates beneficial co-curricular activities and promotes genuine democracy and social justice. Union programs help cultivate responsible citizenship and facilitate an intelligent interest in, and deeper affection for, the University. Through the many opportunities provided by the University Unions, students can strengthen their leadership experience, self-expression, and management skills.

The Board of Directors recommends policy for the University Unions. The voting membership of the board includes six students and three faculty members. The executive director of the University Unions and appointee of the vice president for student affairs, serve as ex officio members without vote.
