Legal Services for Students

Legal Services for Students (LSS) provides counsel and guidance to currently enrolled UT Austin students with legal questions or concerns. A licensed attorney is available to support students in matters concerning various areas of law, including landlord-tenant disputes, criminal citations, small claims court, vehicle collisions and insurance, personal injury, powers of attorney, and consumer matters. These services are provided in a confidential consultation, at no additional cost to the student.

LSS does not provide representation or advocacy on behalf of individual students with regard to their potential legal claims or disputes. If the situation requires legal representation, LSS will provide referrals to other legal resources and information. 

LSS also offers seminars, workshops, and presentations to student groups and classes to educate students about legal issues before conflicts arise. A free notarization service is also available to all registered students during normal business hours.
