KUT and KUTX Public Radio

KUT 90.5, established in 1958, and KUTX 98.9, established in 2013, are licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to the University of Texas at Austin and operate as a department within the College of Communication. Both stations strive to be leading sources for knowledge and ideas that enrich and sustain greater Austin’s unique sense of place, cultural identity, and position as a center of leadership. Each week, more than 300,000 Central Texans listen to KUT and KUTX on the air and online at www.kut.org and www.kutx.org .

With a full-time, dedicated news staff, KUT News 90.5 is committed to investigating and delivering Austin-centric news and information, while bringing the culture, music, and people that define the Austin experience to its news coverage. A founding member of NPR, KUT established its news department in 2002. Since then, KUT News has won more than 100 state, national, and international awards for journalistic excellence.

KUTX 98.9, "The Austin Music Experience," features fresh, cutting-edge music, alongside iconic songs and established artists who continue to inspire. Programming includes live, one-of-a-kind performances in Studio 1A; Texas Music Matters, the award-winning music journalism program; the Austin Music Minute; the KUTX Song of the Day; and the Austin Music Map, which features some of the unlikely places where music is being made in Austin.
