An examination of select novels by the Nobel Laureate and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist focuses on the positional uniqueness that womanism shares with a predominant feminism, which surfaces in historicized familial relationships. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: African and African Diaspora Studies 330J, 372E (Topic 1), English 349S (Topic 5), Women's and Gender Studies 345 (Topic 46), 345I.
