AFR X50U AFR 350U  The Civil Rights Movement from a Comparative Perspective  3 Hours

Focuses on African American and Mexican American struggles for civil rights. Asian American and Native American movements will also be addressed. Using a comparative approach the student will consider the distinctiveness of each of these struggles while also viewing them in relation to each other. Only one of the following may be counted: African and African Diaspora Studies 350U, American Studies 336G, 370 (Topic 60), History 350R (Topic 35), Mexican American Studies 364C. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
