Study of various aspects and periods of South Asian culture and society. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
Pre/Corequisites: Graduate standing; additional prerequisites vary with the topic.

Topic 2: Communalism in Colonial India. Same as: HIS 382N.4
Topic 3: Ethnicity, Religion, and Politics in South Asia. Same as: GOV 390L.17 Additional prerequisite: Twenty-four semester hours of coursework in government or related fields, and consent of the graduate adviser.
