Explores music and its relation to identity; how gender, race, and sexual identity are constructed with and within musical texts; meanings and importance of authenticity; and the effectiveness of music as a political tool. Communication Studies 366M and 367 (Topic: Rhetoric and Popular Music) may not both be counted. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
