Designed to provide students with the knowledge and competence in social science research methods required for careers in teaching or human services. Explores competing definitions of research; the idea of a research paradigm; characteristics of various forms of inquiry, including quantitative and qualitative research; and research methods in relation to issues of ethics and rigor. Curriculum and Instruction 381R and 385G (Topic: Introduction to Systems of Human Inquiry) may not both be counted. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
