Impart an understanding of the fundamental way in which marine geologic processes affect the overall Earth System via a survey of the field of marine geology. Explore the structure and evolution of ocean basins, oceanic islands, and island arcs; the chemistry of the oceans; the sediments in the marine environments; the products and processes of the land-air-sea interface; and the history of the oceans over geologic time. Geological Sciences 338J and 371C (Topic: Marine Geology) may not both be counted. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
