Explore cultural movements through literature, essays, and philosophy from German-speaking Europe between absolutism and its imperial eras (circa 1750-1900). Focus on how texts reflect common themes and concerns of the emerging nation-states. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. German 343K and 346L may not both be counted. Prerequisite: Three semester hours of upper-division coursework in German with a grade of at least C.
