Same as European Studies 348 (Topic 16), Religious Studies 335C, and Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies 335 (Topic 33). Survey major political ideologies like socialism, capitalism, and fascism; as well as the more recent so-called "Fourth Political Theory" of Russian ideologue Aleksandr Dugin, (variable) popular ideologies, and internet manifestos. Explore each ideology through original texts and utopian/dystopian representations in popular culture (e.g., literature, film, music, graphic art, architecture, design). Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: European Studies 348 (Topic 16), Government 324C, Religious Studies 335C, Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies 335 (Topic: Polit Ideologies/Manifestos), 335 (Topic 33). Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
