Same as American Studies 360D and History 357Q. Explore German immigration to the United States from the colonial era to the present. Examine the motivations for migration; settlement patterns; construction of identity through traditions and festivals; German American's economic, social, and cultural contributions to the United States; and challenges to assimilation. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
