Same as Asian Studies 346G and Women's and Gender Studies 340 (Topic 75). Examine gender and the shifting nature of modernity between precolonial and colonial periods in the Indian subcontinent. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: Asian Studies 346G, 361 (Topic 44), History 364G (Topic 13), 367D, Women's and Gender Studies 340 (Topic: Gender and Modern India), 340 (Topic 75). Prerequisite: Upper division standing.
