Examine the range of problems and opportunities prevalent in coverage of American sports. Includes discussion of class, equality, gender, labor, political expression and race. Examine timeless themes in sports coverage such as community, ego, identity, money, opportunity and tradition, as well as sports-specific journalistic ethics. Journalism 354S and 359T (Topic: Contemporary Issues in Sports Journalism) may not both be counted. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
