Same as Anthropology 324L (Topic 69) and Asian Studies 372N. Exploration of anthropological literature describing Japanese conceptions of self and body, and analysis of the intersection of these conceptions of self with Japanese ideas about religion, morality, aging, and medicine. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: Anthropology 324L (Topic: Japanese Concepts of Body and Self), 324L (Topic 69), Asian Studies 372 (Topic 41), 372N, Religious Studies 352 (Topic 8), 352S. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
