Seeks to develop a wide-ranging familiarity with the Jewish and Christian Bibles and with the dominant modes of ancient, medieval, and early modern biblical interpretation. Readings include an extensive range of primary sources, including both the Scriptures themselves and some of their most influential exegetes. Only one of the following may be counted: Core Texts and Ideas 304 (Topic 1), 315C, Religious Studies 315C. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
