Study of the effects of conflict on society, culture, technology, and economy practices through comparative analysis and historical dimension with a focus on institutions responsible for managing and handling conflict such as warfare and the military. Conflict-related issues include social institutions, gender identities and roles, economy, health issues, technological changes, collective memory, and culture. Sociology 308 (Topic: Social Change and the Future) and 308K may not both be counted. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
