Investigation of the relationship between religion and politics through the central concept of culture. Subjects include religion as a form of culture and its effect on political life, the impact of the local culture of a society on religion and politics, and how historical conditions affect the religion-culture-politics relationship. Sociology 308 (Topic: Comparative Religion, Politics, and Culture) and 308N may not both be counted. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
