Examines contemporary social issues confronting the United States, using sociological concepts and perspectives to analyze the nation's most pressing social problems, ranging from social inequality to crime, terrorism and war, and environmental degradation. Sociology 307E and 308 (Topic: Contemporary United States Social Problems) may not both be counted. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
