Examine problems of justice in the context of war, defense, and diplomacy. Explore the relationship between a society's moral foundations and foreign policy, questions of ethical conduct and warfare, and the challenges of citizenship with respect to foreign policy decisions. Discuss readings that may include Reinhold Niebuhr, Hans Morgenthau, Henry Kissinger, as well as memoirs and contemporary scholarship. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
