The UTeach-Natural Sciences program offers a secondary teaching option certificate to students who intend to teach at the middle or high school level. UTeach-Natural Sciences prepares students in the College of Natural Sciences, the Jackson School of Geosciences, and Cockrell School of Engineering for middle school or secondary teacher certification in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). However, any students in any major at the University may seek STEM teacher certification through UTeach-Natural Sciences.

Discussions include student teaching experiences, contemporary critical issues in education, and preparation for the state certification exam. Chemistry 107 (Topic: Special Topics Seminar) and UTeach-Natural Sciences 170 may not both be counted. One lecture hour a week for one semester.
Pre/Corequisites: Credit or registration for Curriculum and Instruction 651S, and a University grade point average of at least 2.50.  
Restrictions: Restricted to students in the UTeach-Natural Sciences program who have earned a passing score on the preliminary portfolio.  
Grading: Student Option  
Repeatable for credit: No
