Surveys history and contemporary debates regarding the construction of race, class, gender and sexual orientation in U.S. television from the late 1940s through the present day and related issues of television aesthetics, production practices, audiences, and advocacy. Three lecture hours a week for one semester, with two-and-one-half-hours of film screening a week.
