Licensure
This program has concentrations that include preparation required for teacher certification in Texas via the Urban Teachers program. Certification areas include Secondary teaching certification in English Language Arts (ELA) or Social Studies (SS) as well as• English as a Second Language (ESL).
State of Texas teacher certification requirements are governed by the Texas Education Agency and are subject to change. Students must adhere to current teacher certification requirements, even if they differ from those listed in the University catalogs.

Additional Requirements and Policy
In addition to the general requirements for all master’s degrees, students must present evidence of appropriate teaching or related experience. The program area faculty annually conduct a review of each student’s progress.
