This program is for a prospective teacher who holds a bachelor’s degree in any subject area. Prospective teachers will develop and strengthen knowledge, dispositions, and skills for teaching in culturally and linguistically diverse contexts.

Admission

Spanish-proficient multilingual students must submit a Spanish writing sample with their program application to be considered for enrollment in bilingual courses.

Licensure

The program provides a clear pathway to an initial certification in the state of Texas for teaching. The program includes independent learning as required by the state of Texas. The observation and clinical residency experiences take place in person and require the student to be in person at a partner school in the Austin area, Houston area, or other partner school district. 

State of Texas teacher certification requirements are governed by the Texas Education Agency and are subject to change. Students must adhere to current teacher certification requirements, even if they differ from those listed in the University catalogs.
