The doctoral degree in theatre is offered in performance as public practice. The program requires competence in research and allows the student to develop both a broad understanding of the field, including practical skills, and in-depth knowledge of a specialized area.

Admission

Students must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. Adequate preparation in the field of specialization in theatre, dance, and/or performance.

Requirements

The Doctor of Philosophy degree with a specialization in performance as a public practice requires a minimum of 45 semester hours. The student must pass two qualifying examinations, write a satisfactory dissertation, and pass the final oral examination.
