Accounting (BBA)
Department website: https://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/undergraduate-programs/bba/academics/majors/accounting-major/
The objective of the BBA accounting curriculum is to provide students with a broad overall education, solid grounding in the common body of knowledge of business administration, and exposure to accounting in sufficient depth to help them achieve entry-level competence for pursuit of a career in industry.
The study of accounting focuses on the principles and practices of analyzing, reporting, and critically evaluating financial information for businesses and organizations. The objective of the four-year accounting degree is to provide undergraduate business students with a foundation in core principles of accounting as a part of their business education.
This degree prepares graduates for careers in industry and public service as well as master’s programs outside of accounting and master’s programs in accounting.
Undergraduate students can also pursue the five-year integrated approach to the Master in Professional Accounting (MPA) degree, which leads to the award of both the BBA and the MPA degrees. The integrated approach is designed for students who wish to obtain an education beyond core principles to include an accounting specialization and pursue professional designations and licensure.
Total Hours Required: 120
