Deaf Access Certificate
This certificate is designed to provide students with the foundational and practical knowledge and experience needed to meaningfully engage with deaf people across diverse settings. Students will build a working knowledge of deaf culture, including American Sign Language (ASL), deaf cognition and learning, and applications in the design of digital environments. The final course in this sequence is a supervised internship/practicum experience at a host site that aligns with the specific degree program and future goals of the participants.

Additional Requirements and Policies

Students must earn a ‘B’ or better in either ASL 601D or 610D in order to be admitted into the certificate.

Students must satisfy the courses used to fulfill certificate requirements on the letter-grade basis, except for credit by exam and the internship/practicum class.

The student must earn a combined grade point average of at least 2.00 in these courses
