Explore the history of food and beverages in the Middle East and Asia, including Palestine/Israel, Egypt, Iran, India, China, and Japan. Investigate themes of identity, capitalism, and globalization to reflect on the role of food consumers in an interconnected world. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: Asian Studies 343F, History 343F, Middle Eastern Studies 343 (Topic: Eat the East), 343 (Topic 28). Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
