Same as Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies 345 (Topic 18). Develop an anthropological perspective on disinformation and conspiracy theories and examine how these phenomena are embedded in cultural, social, and political contexts. Explore the ways in which disinformation is constructed, disseminated, and maintained within different media ecologies. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Anthropology 345D and Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies 345 (Topic 18) may not both be counted. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
