Same as Asian Studies 375D and Philosophy 348D. Examine Chinese ethical and political philosophy, with an emphasis on the Confucian tradition, through close reading of major works. Analyze ideas from the course both philosophically and historically. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: Asian Studies 375D, Core Texts and Ideas 325D, 375 (Topic: Chinese Ethics/Political Phil), Philosophy 348D. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
