Examine the contributions of volunteered geographic information (VGI) to geographic knowledge alongside an analysis of alternative forms of community-based knowledge production. Explore an overview of citizen science, community science, and VGI datasets. Develop and carry out community-based participatory research projects informed by the growing literature on community and citizen science. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Geography 332L and 356T (Topic: Community and Citizen Science) may not both be counted. Offered on the letter-grade basis only. Prerequisite: Upper division standing.
