Same as Core Texts and Ideas 339. Investigate happiness and how it is attained. Examine contrasting perspectives on happiness or human flourishing offered by major thinkers, both religious and secular, representing different epochs, cultures, and theoretical approaches. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Core Texts and Ideas 339 and Philosophy 365P may not both be counted. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
