PHM 281E PHM 281E. Introductory Spanish for the Pharmacy Professional. 2 Hours.

Restricted to students in the College of Pharmacy. Develop foundational skills for communicating with Spanish-speaking patients within pharmacy practice settings, including basic medication instruction use. Explore the pitfalls of online translators/apps and etiquette for using a medical translator. Discuss disparities in care for patients with limited English proficiency and other topics applicable to a pharmacy practice environment. Designed for students with little-to-no Spanish-speaking experience. Two lecture hours a week for one semester. Pharmacy PharmD 282R (Topic: Intro to Span for Phrm Pro) and 281E may not both be counted. Offered on the letter-grade basis only.
