Analyze the relationship between literature and media technologies in contemporary Caribbean cultures. Examine the notion and uses of Caribbean mediascapes. Discuss the uses of media technologies derived from film, television, the internet and YouTube, and the ways they are used and read in the Spanish Caribbean. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: African and African Diaspora Studies 345Q, 370 (Topic: Lit and Media in Caribbean), Latin American Studies 328 (Topic 5), 370S (Topic 28), Spanish 350E, Spanish 350K (Topic 5), Spanish Civilization 320C (Topic 2).
