Master of Arts
The Master of Arts degree in Humanities, Health, and Medicine requires a total of 30 semester-credit-hours (SCH). Students have the option of four different degree plans for completing the required 30 hours: (A) coursework only; (B) coursework that includes three-hour departmental report or capstone; (C) 27 hours of coursework plus a three-hour Master's Report; and (D) 24 hours of coursework plus a six-hour Master's Thesis (the six thesis hours must be spread over two terms). Students may complete the degree over the course of 9, 12, or 18 months, depending on which degree plan they opt for and how intensively they are able to devote themselves to their academic work. Important information and details about all four degree plans may be found online here.
Students enrolled in the Dual Degree Program with Dell Medical School must complete all of the same requirements to receive their Master of Arts degree in HHM as students in the free-standing MA-HHM program.
A total of 30 semester credit hours of coursework is required. Note that a limited amount of upper-division coursework may be counted toward degree requirements. Further details are available from the graduate advisor.
