Analyzes written works, films, and videos by and about lesbians, bisexual, transgender, and gay black people, with an emphasis on understanding the historical and theoretical construction of sexual and gender identities and sexual/cultural practices in black communities. Only one of the following may be counted: African and African Diaspora Studies 330W, English 343M, Women's and Gender Studies 340 (Topic 47), 340L. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
