Exploration of black social and political thinkers, writers, and reformers, and how their works influence the legacies of slavery, empire, and patriarchy within the United States. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: African and African Diaspora Studies 351N, 372C (Topic 14), American Studies 370 (Topic 42). Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
