Chronological examination of the history of African American theatre since 1950, through the study of productions, performance theory, play texts, essays, reviews, and manifestos within their sociopolitical contexts, with an emphasis on strategies of resistance that are embedded in aesthetics. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
