Same as Geography 321D. Examine the notions of development and the ways in which development is associated with state building, moral economy, political performance, and accumulation regimes. Explore the development of civil society and social movement in East Asia, and explanations of the mechanisms and drivers of displacement. Conceptualize the "Right to the City", and alternative right-based approaches to land, housing, infrastructure, commons and public resources. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
