Examine the origin and development of the U.S. Constitution and the structure and powers of the national government, including the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, federalism, political participation, the national election process, public policy, civil liberties, and civil rights. May be paired with Government 310L or Civics 303C to satisfy the legislative Core requirement for government. For each semester hour of credit earned, the equivalent of one lecture hour a week for one semester.
