Studies of basic city functions and how to detect urban dysfunctions before crises become news. Topics include infrastructure decay, traffic congestion, poverty and homelessness, digital divides, school dropouts, conflict and crime, riots and protests, obesity and disease, recreation, and pollution. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
