The evolution of the culture and language of German immigrants to Texas from the 1840s through the present and how they have influenced other ethnic groups in Texas. Three lectures a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: American Studies 370 (Topic 47), Anthropology 324L (Topic 55), German, Scandinavian, and Dutch Studies 351C, Linguistics 351D. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
