Discuss the physics of the expanding universe, Einstein's equations, inflationary expansion, the basics of nuclear physics and big bang nucleosynthesis, and the content of the Universe: the known particles and forces of the standard model of particle physics as well as the unknown dark matter and dark energy. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Prerequisite: Physics 373 with a grade of at least C-.
