Same as Anthropology 328F and Asian Studies 341R. Explores the structures of family, kinship, and religion in Japan since 1868 and their roles in the creation and expression of national and individual identities. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: Anthropology 328F, Asian Studies 341R, 361 (Topic 38), Religious Studies 352F. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
