Undergraduate

Students majoring in speech, language, and hearing sciences may specialize in speech/language pathology or audiology. After completing the necessary undergraduate coursework, they may seek graduate degrees that are required for professional accreditation by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Students in speech/language pathology and audiology who wish to practice in Texas must be licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services.  

SLH X11K SLH 311K  Phonetic Description of Speech  3 Hours

3 Lecture Hours  0 Lab Hours  
Examine speech production, physiological analysis and description of speech sounds, voice quality, and voice dynamics; notation; phonetic theory; applications of phonetics. Communication Sciences and Disorders 311K and Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences 311K may not both be counted. Three lecture hours a week for one semester.
