AFR 330P AFR 330P. Writing Slavery. 3 Hours.
Same as English 323E and Women's and Gender Studies 340 (Topic 31). Explores the controversial rewriting of slavery in a presentist context by contemporary authors. Addresses challenges that archival limitations and revisionist writings about slavery pose for academic disciplines, literary instruction, and/or pedagogy. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Only one of the following may be counted: African and African Diaspora Studies 330P, 374F (Topic 6), English 323E, 376M (Topic 3), Women's and Gender Studies 340 (Topic 31). Prerequisite: For English majors, nine semester hours of coursework in English or rhetoric and writing; for others, upper-division standing.
