Explore the principal methods used for non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and structural health monitoring (SHM) of structural components. Examine relevant physical principles of continuum mechanics, electrical engineering, acoustics, and elastic wave propagation underlying the experimental methods. Examine sensor data acquisition and interrogation and ultrasonic digital signal processing. Utilize laboratory demonstrations on selected subjects. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Civil Engineering 382H and 397 (Topic: Str Hlth Monitor/Nondstrc Eval) may not both be counted. Prerequisite: Graduate standing.
