Explore Hollywood's symbolic role in American culture, and the genre of the Hollywood story, as seen in an array of representations of Hollywood (primarily in films and novels, but also in essays, poems, paintings, photographs, songs, fan magazines, and notorious counter-historical accounts such as Kenneth Anger's Hollywood Babylon). Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Prerequisite: Nine semester hours of coursework in English or rhetoric and writing.
